The Memorial Gardens were built in 1948.
In 1951, the memorial gardens were nominated for a Festival of Britain Award Landscape Award. They were restored in in 2014/2015 and the Sensory Garden was created.
There are lots of different types of birds and animals that live in the park. Sparrow hawks and peregrine falcons are regularly seen. Bats appear in the early evening to feed on insects. The planting has been chosen to encourage moths and butterflies.
