This building first opened to the public as a Public Library in 1884.
It is now an art gallery, museum, local studies centre and the main visitor information centre for Rochdale. It is also the place to see the Dippy exhibition!
In the Dippy exhibition you can find out about dinosaurs, the surprising fossilised creatures that have been found in Rochdale (and that were alive long before the dinosaurs) and how we can work together to protect the future of the planet.
The main museum gallery tells the fascinating story of the changes in landscape and land use from the Ice Age through to man’s industrial influences on the region.
