Accessibility

Trail map

There is a short walk between Meet Dippy at Number One Riverside and the Dippy Exhibition at Touchstones Rochdale (approximately 0.4miles or 10-15minutes).  The route is fully accessible for wheelchair users and for families with pushchairs.

Entrances

The approach to the main front entrance from Smith Street is paved. Level access is provided on Smith Street to the main accessible power assisted entrance. The entrance is signposted.
There is also another entrance to Number One Riverside which can be found at the rear of the building. This leads directly from the car park designated for use by people with Blue Badges. The entrance has rotating doors and is a fully compliant accessible entrance. The accessible entrance to the rear of the building will still be operational but will predominantly be used as an exit. The Dippy Information Point can be found at the main front entrance.

Blue Badge Parking

There are 10 accessible parking bays in the car park at the rear of the building and 6 on-street parking bays at the side of the building for use by visitors and staff with disabilities who hold a Blue Badge.
Blue Badge holders can park in the rear car park between 8am-6pm and must display a valid Blue Badge. On-street parking to the side of the building on Milton Street is restricted to a maximum of 3 hours with no return within 1 hour.

If these are occupied there are numerous Blue Badge parking spaces in the town centre car parks.        View Blue Badge parking spaces (external link)
You can also drop off at the side or rear of the building on Milton Street.

Getting around the Exhibitions

The exhibition is spread out across the ground floor. Large print orientations maps for the exhibition are available on request at the Dippy Information Point. You can also pop-in to request a copy in advance of your visit.

Accessible Toilets

There are 2 unisex toilet blocks on the ground floor. Each contains 1 accessible toilet.
The accessible toilet in the block located towards the centre of the building facing the library is not key operated.
The toilet block located at the rear of the coffee shop includes a Changing Places toilet and is key operated. It has a height adjustable adult-sized changing table, a ceiling track hoist system, space in the changing area for the person with a disability and their carer, a centrally placed toilet with plenty of room either side, a large waste bin for disposable pads and a non-slip floor. The key is available from the Dippy Information Desk.
